PTE Reading Multiple Choice (Single Answer) Guide
Key Points –
About
In this part of the test, you’ll read a passage with about 100 words. Then, there’s a question with some choices. You have to pick the right choice based on what’s in the passage. Usually, there’s one or two questions like this.
Tips
- Each Reading MCQ (Single) question comes with one passage and only one question to answer. Test takers should read the passage and understand its main points within just 1 or 2 minutes.
- Reading Multiple Choice (Single Answer) doesn’t give too many points, so you don’t need to focus on them a lot when preparing. The most important thing is managing your time well. Make sure to finish each question like this within 1 or 2 minutes. Spending too much time here might take away time from other important questions like Fill in the Blanks.
Time Period
- In the Reading Section, there’s only one timer for all the questions. So, the more time you spend on one question, the less time you’ll have for the others.
- It’s best to answer these questions quickly to have enough time for the Fill in the Blanks (FIB) questions, which are more important.
- If you’re really confident about your answer, you can spend up to 1.5 minutes on a question. But if you’re not sure, try to spend just 1 minute to make a quick choice among the options.
Practice Task
Before you do a mock or real test, try doing a whole set of Reading questions to get used to them. You can use the OnePTE app on Android, or iOS, or website for practice. Also, remember to manage your time well.
