In the test, you’ll usually listen to someone talking for about 30 to 90 seconds. After that, you have to pick the right answer from 3 to 5 options. Usually, there are either one or two questions like this.

Exam Tips

  • For this type of question, it’s important to understand the whole audio. Don’t get distracted by reading the question. The options you’re given are about the main idea, not small details. Keep your focus on the big picture.
  • Highlight Correct Summary (HCS) questions don’t give many points in the Listening Section. So, don’t focus too much on preparing for them for PTE.

Time Span

Try to finish HCS questions quickly to focus on more important sections like WFD. If you’re sure about your answers, spend no more than 1.5 minutes on each question while the audio is playing. If you’re not sure, don’t waste time. Just decide quickly after the audio ends and move on to the next task.
